IGNITING IMAGINATIONS
The annual Change project is produced by Mosaic Association.
Since 2012, the Mosaic Association has been offering enriching visual arts learning experiences to schools in Batley and Birstall through the Change project. This annual project aims to provide inclusive arts and STEM learning experiences to children and young people in the area.

Through our collaboration with schools, Change focuses on making STEM subjects engaging and accessible through arts. By employing a creative methodology, we enable young individuals to participate in new artistic learning experiences, as well as gain insights into potential career paths within the arts and STEM fields.
For the Change project, Mosaic Association commissions local artists to work closely with schools in Batley and Birstall, to facilitate a series of high-quality art workshops. These workshops are specifically designed to align with the schools' STEM topics, emphasizing the overarching theme of 'Saving Our Planet.' By intertwining art and STEM, the aim is to foster a deeper understanding of STEM subjects through creative exploration.

During the workshops, students are exposed to a range of artistic techniques and mediums, guided by the expertise of the collaborating artists. Through hands-on activities and interactive discussions, students are encouraged to think critically, problem-solve, and express their ideas in innovative ways. By bridging the gap between art and STEM, these workshops not only enhance students' comprehension of STEM topics but also nurture their creativity and artistic abilities.
The combination of STEM education and art in Change ignites the children and young peoples curiosity, nurtures their creativity, and exposes them to different artistic techniques, enhancing their artistic skills, broadening their horizons and raising their aspirations.

And, through its ongoing exploration of the connections between art and STEM, Change has continued to adapt and evolve year after year, as our team, the artists, and the teachers, learn alongside the students. As the project continues to grow, it has gathered a wealth of experience and knowledge. This knowledge has been deconstructed and refined to provide the schools of Batley and Birstall with an incomparable art based learning experience.
