Jackie is the creative director of her own art school and artist studios, Globe Arts Education, based in Slaithwaite. She has many years of teaching and leadership experience in high schools and continues to work closely with the primary and secondary sector, colleges and the University of Huddersfield. At Globe Arts she teaches drawing, painting, printmaking and fused glass to children and adults alike, and especially enjoys bringing families together to explore creativity.
Jackie believes that collaborative making is fantastic for building confidence and exchanging skills. She loves to see young people bounce ideas around and discover new materials and techniques – it’s pure magic!
Within her personal practice, Jackie seeks to combine drawing and printmaking within her fused glass creations, exploring the many cross over points and potentials of bringing seemingly disparate ways of working together. She strives to capture subtle tones layered between glass where shades of colour change in different light conditions and hidden gems reveal themselves. She loves to share her passion and obsession for fused glass with anybody and everybody who will listen, but particularly young people, as the impact of exploring glass with young minds is amazing!
Glass is its own ‘beast’, just when you think you have it check, it reminds you it’s in charge!
